
The present structure of mine regulation grew out of the bad practices of the past. Lessons learned from the past map out what kinds of accidents can result from specific types of practices and can help us to choose practices that will avoid similar problems in the future. This is the second of a series of 4 lectures covering how U.S. mine accident history led to the current state of regulation.
